Charming spokesperson, Major William Cage, though not a “real” soldier, according to him, is sent to the front line in the war against an invading alien race on a suicide mission. Once there he is swiftly killed in battle by an unusual looking alien. However, he awakens to find that he is repeating the same day… over and over. Not appreciating the gift, and not handling the break up well, he plays a little game of Russian Roulette between himself and the doll, Bobo the Clown, and loses, sort of. An Arizona rancher, Cole (Rory Calhoun), is struggling with an overpopulation of rabbits. He had some help dealing with coyote’s previously which “worked too well,” but now he is looking for a more environmentally sound solution which balances the natural order. Luckily, Professor Elgin Clark (DeForest Kelly), knows just who to ask for help. Gerry (Janet Leigh) and Roy (Stuart Whitman) Bennett are nearby working on learning more about insects, and agree to try to help out by using an experimental serum to disrupt the rabbit’s reproduction.
A woman, Michelle, is in a car accident and wakes up chained to a wall and locked in a room, once unlocked she discovers that her captor, Howard, is also the one who saved her after her car accident. Her captor/savior (who, according to his friend, is a huge conspiracy theorist) and his friend/handyman, Emmett, explain that there has been some sort of bomb and that the air outside is now toxic. She still doesn’t trust him, but discovers for herself when a woman, whose skin appears to be melting, arrives at the door demanding assistance. After a rough start, they find a level of comfort with each other in the shelter, until Michelle discovers a suspicious message, and realizes that sometimes first impressions are actually right.
After being banished by their gated community, a Puritan family tries to survive alone in their colonial homestead. The family quickly begins to fall apart and they start to lose faith as they try and fail to accept the loss of their infant son, and as mysterious and sinister things continue to occur.
