Right smack in the hay day of Jackman’s X Men fame and the beginning of Beckinsale’s Underworld fame, comes Van Helsing.
The year following League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’s release, we get another high budget monster mash up movie. Fortunately, it’s a good time, full of action, classic monsters, and lots of eye candy. Thankfully, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Hugh Jackman, as the titular character, supported by Kate Beckinsale and David Wenham, have great chemistry and breathe some fresh life into this new take on a familiar character.
I found this to be a solid, very mainstream, high budget, popcorn flick. I gave it 3 glasses of blood red wine.
