This is Snoop Dogg’s version Tales from the Crypt, an anthology film with a hip-hop twist and directed by Stacy Title.
I’m not sure what I was expecting when I first picked this up, Urban films are typically outside my comfort zone, but I’m quite glad that I watched this. Each of the 3 stories is a cautionary tale in which the fate of someone is based on the choices they’ve made and continue to make. The animated wrap-around is well done (and probably my favorite part), the music is, of course, outstanding, and I would guess that no small part of the budget went to this and the big names featured in the anthology, the entire thing has a lot of heart.
It doesn’t seem like this was a particularly well received film. To which I say… their loss for not being more open minded.
