A woman, Michelle, is in a car accident and wakes up chained to a wall and locked in a room, once unlocked she discovers that her captor, Howard, is also the one who saved her after her car accident. Her captor/savior (who, according to his friend, is a huge conspiracy theorist) and his friend/handyman, Emmett, explain that there has been some sort of bomb and that the air outside is now toxic. She still doesn’t trust him, but discovers for herself when a woman, whose skin appears to be melting, arrives at the door demanding assistance. After a rough start, they find a level of comfort with each other in the shelter, until Michelle discovers a suspicious message, and realizes that sometimes first impressions are actually right.

I had reviewed this film when I first saw it.

Writer/director Adam Green offers the audience what is intended to be the next big name in the American slasher genre.  Though it may be the same slasher archetype, given a rich new setting and a face… redesign (can’t really call it a facelift now, can we), it also gives the audience some really wonderful over-the-top gore scenes, dismemberment, evisceration, buckets of blood splashed around, and fun, though stereotypical, characters.
