“Dead Snow”
Day 28 & 29 of the 2024 31-Days of Horror
These are a great twist on your typical zombie flicks! Well worth watching. Then revisiting.

A group of friends are on break from med school for a ski trip where they’re attacked by Nazi Zombies.
I love a good zombie flick and this is a good zombie flick (even though zombies shamble, NOT run).
The characters were mostly very clever and resourceful throughout the film, which was a pleasant change from your typical zombie flick. The film does specifically reference the mandatory military service (no, not everyone is required to serve) in Norway, so the skillset is preset. Sure there are some preposterous 80s horror era simplicities at play here, but they are very deliberate and well thought out.

Nazi Zombies return, but they’re not satisfied with their recovered treasure. No, they want more.
The lone survivor from the first movie, Martin, finds himself in a hospital, blamed for the slaughter of his friends, and with a not-so-nice new arm attached, after he had cut his off due to a zombie bite. Now he has the power to raise zombies, too.
So, first, this one isn’t subtitled. It was done in English. With everyone, except the Nazi and Russian zombies, speaking English. Okay. I can accept that. It was a bit more fantastical than the first one, if you can believe it. It kinda had the simplistic feel of an 80s horror flick. That’s probably why it worked so well.
I totally dug The Zombie Squad. They were a hoot!!
And that ending. It was just a little icky. But I guess by that point, Martin was part zombie anyway.
I’d only ever seen the first part of this one. Life interfered and I hadn’t gotten back to it until now. I’m glad I did.
