Josh and Steve are professional snowboarders who are trying to secure a sponsorship at a remote ski resort. Steve decides to pull a stunt by skiing to the finish line naked, not knowing that they were fulfilling a little girl’s wish to meet him and causing them both to lose the sponsorship. Meanwhile, the resort owner, Franz, has been experimenting with making artificial snow and is in the process of giving a demonstration to his potential Russian investor. When the investor gets the noxious artificial snow fluid sprayed in his face, causing him to become increasingly ill.

This Austrian zombie flick embraces a lot of stereotypes and tropes, while ignoring others, and sometimes both depending on whether they think the gimmick is funny enough. It is a mixed language film, so be prepared random switching between English and subtitles.

I enjoy a fun spin on the zombie genre. I’m one of the few who still enjoys this oversaturated sub-genre. I like even more when there’s a really great twist (this movie doesn’t happen to have a really great twist). But it has fantastic over the top gore and whimsy, with mixed practical and computer generated effects. There is more than once scene where the influence of Jackson’s Dead Alive is clear.

The best part of this film is Margarete Tiesel as Rita, the middle-aged, blonde, braided, stout, and completely kick-ass bar maid. Is this a great film, no. Is it a good film, not necessarily, but the DVD will keep its home in my zombie movie collection.
