Sea animals turn into the undead after being administered some tainted medication from the Eden Zoo containing the zombie virus.

This is the 3rd installment in the Zoombies franchise and the only one I’ve seen. It was filmed in 6 days during the pandemic in 2020, which explains some of the story choices and makes me appreciate the movie even more. I’ll say right up front, if you don’t like The Asylum movies, this isn’t for you. I have quite a collection of them on DVD, but everyone who knows me should know that I have questionable taste in movies. Oh, Asylum, sometimes I just love you.

Shining Sea Aquarium needs some updating and to raise extra funds, so they’re giving some private tours before the aquarium opens for the day. See, a perfect reason for the lack of crowds at a popular tourist location and a reasonable excuse why they’re all separated. One of the tours is a V.I.P. private “feeding” tour lead by Daniel (D.C. Douglas) and the other is Senator Blackburn (Anthony Jenson) who also happens to be the CEO and president of the facility, from whom Miranda (Eva Ceja) is trying to get some funding options. While this is happening, one of the veterinarians has an emergency with an octopus. which had a reaction to a tracker and when given some medication from Eden Zoo. Bad things happen and escalate quickly. Clu (Vivica A Fox), the security chief, spends the movie trying to release the lockdown, alone, communicating via walkie talkie.

I loved that it was shot on location at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA. I did not enjoy all the CGI, I rarely do. I particularly enjoyed this movie because I’m an aquarist. I giggle wildly imagining my fish, frogs, and lizards turning into zombies. Shrug, but then, I giggle nearly every time I get a gas station sandwich since that’s how Zombieland started.
