31 Days of Horror Challenge: Movie #28
Two months after the zombie apocalypse has occurred, a shy college student and other survivors come together travelling across the country, chasing rumors of a zombie-free Pacific Playland Amusement Park.
There is so much good in this movie. Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and, of course, “the big BM,” Bill Murray. This film starts out fresh and strong. With eccentric characters, attention to details, the music, the running list of Columbus’ rules, “zombie kill of the week,” even the voice over narration (of which I am not normally a fan) it makes for an enjoyable, if, as the movie goes on, somewhat predictable, experience.
Yeah, it’s mainstream, sure it’s full of genre stereotypes, and oh so quotable, but I don’t hold that against it too much. If you like horror, you’ve likely already seen this. If you have somehow managed to miss this one, you should stop reading this and go watch it.
