The dead have risen and a family, in Wales, is trapped in their cottage trying to survive the zombie apocalypse and their own poor choices.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

A creative, though not particularly good, retelling of Romero’s iconic tale with a definite twist.\u00a0 The opening sequences have some nice nods to other classic horror stories as well.\u00a0\u00a0 There are familiar characters and plot points but these are handled quite differently from the original by the filmmakers.<\/p>\n

The story itself was not so different from the source material, a group of people are trapped and try to survive the night not always using their best judgement.\u00a0 The characters have an interesting dynamic, with 3 (and a 4th on it’s way) generations of the family staying together in a cottage.\u00a0\u00a0 Interesting but not engaging.\u00a0 Really, I was rooting for the zombies.<\/p>\n

Nice use of practical effects, especially when they chose to go understated rather than over the top cheesy.<\/p>\n

And really, WTF is it with the serious apocalypse flicks out of the U.K. having the male survivors band together, then when they find women they use them as rape toys?\u00a0 I realize that is supposed to be part of the horror, the idea that sometimes being rescued isn’t really being rescued.\u00a0 I just don’t care for that particular plot device.<\/p>\n

I gave this 2 cups of tea.\u00a0 If you can go into this ignoring the “Night of the Living Dead” part of the title, it’s not a completely lost cause.
