Mine surveyors are hired to assess an abandoned silver mine in Silver City to determine if it is worth reopening.\u00a0 Some of them rent a nearby cabin for the duration of the project.\u00a0\u00a0 In the process of exploring the mine, the surveyors release something that had been trapped inside for 100 years which are free to hunt using the tunnels and caverns running underground, including under their cabin.<\/p>\n

A modern classic horror from the director who has everything under his belt from episodes of Grizzly Adams, to MacGyver, Star Trek, Smallville, Supernatural and much more.\u00a0 There is an eerie ambiance, whether in the tunnels or the cabin, even the outside scenes convey a sense of dereliction.\u00a0 The opening credits contribute to this with a montage of newspaper articles setting up the back story to the mine as does the minimal use of background music.\u00a0 It’s good that they didn’t show the creatures throughout the movie (only at the end), the viewer’s imagination is more effective.<\/p>\n

Yes, some of the acting is cheesy and in come cases stiff.\u00a0\u00a0 The characters behave and evolve logically within their established natures.\u00a0 There are a few minor continuity issues, but nothing that took me out of the story.\u00a0 It is a bit slow moving in places, but the chemistry between the characters manages to keep the viewer engaged.\u00a0\u00a0 The dialogue is well written and mostly well executed (everyone is so freaking polite and good natured).<\/p>\n

Overall I think this is a solid movie.\u00a0 I gave this 3 1\/2 mixed drinks.
