Tom is a devoted family man, but lately he is unhappy at work, drifting away from his wife and his friend, and cannot seem to figure out what’s wrong. \u00a0He thinks that maybe moving away might help, so he takes a brief trip upstate. \u00a0He and his best friend, Dan, share a love horror movies and in an attempt to reconnect, they watch a shocking DVD.\u00a0 Now, Tom finds himself thinking about it at at odd times, making him face something dark inside himself, and becoming obsessed with it until it threatens every aspect of his life.
\n<\/p>\n

So much potential left unfulfilled!\u00a0 This torture-porn, would-be snuff film was beautifully shot, with understated gore, yet plenty of blood and sexual overtones.<\/p>\n

The story moves a little slowly and I found it easy to get distracted from the movie, especially during some of the sections that had no dialogue.\u00a0 I didn’t care for the music, it was good for parts of the film, then distracting for others.\u00a0 For me, it set a monotone for the movie rather than emphasizing the drama.\u00a0 Had they shortened the film a little, it would of tightened the story and made it a more solid film.\u00a0 As it is, I didn’t really empathize with the characters, I found them rather blah and uninteresting and the film itself unmemorable for the genre.<\/p>\n

Still, the viewer is able to get that uncomfortable feeling of knowing that you’re watching something that, if it were true, should break your mind.<\/p>\n
