When an old homeless woman dies in her arms, Zoe inherits a curse which leaves her under the protection of a senile gnome, who chooses the most flamboyant of methods of protection in order.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Starring Verne Troyer as the gleefully wicked title character, and featuring a small bit by Bill Oberst, Jr. this cautionary tale of “Be careful what you wish for” has some real potential.\u00a0 But, and I don’t say this often, the story really feels rushed.\u00a0 There are a lot of logic leaps made by the characters that could have worked more effectively if more thought had been given.\u00a0 Or, for all I know, maybe the bits that contained those bits of storytelling were left on the cutting room floor.\u00a0 The world may never know.\u00a0 \u00a0Zoe, the would-be heroine, has a lot happen to her in a very short period of time, and has a really shitty home life.\u00a0 The story was very ambitious, probably too ambitious for the budget and experience of the writers and directors.<\/p>\n

I was able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the ride for the most part.\u00a0 Aside from Troyer’s inspired performance, they needed to add as much humor to the rest of the film as they did in the final scenes.<\/p>\n
