Her captor/savior (who, according to his friend, is a huge conspiracy theorist) and his friend/handyman, Emmett, explain that there has been some sort of bomb and that the air outside is now toxic. She still doesn’t trust him, but discovers for herself when a woman, whose skin appears to be melting, arrives at the door demanding assistance. But, there’s no real way to avoid that particular spoiler. It’s full of tension and great dialogue. There was even a moment that I actually jumped. Maybe it was intended to be a jump scare moment, and if so, yay, success! And maybe I should have seen the moment coming, but I didn’t, at least not right then. I liked that I didn’t much care for the character Michelle. She was consistently reactionary and judgmental (which was the character’s nature, not a flaw in execution), but it made it hard for me to connect with her. Emmett was sweet and likable, but not very memorable. Howard was complex and fascinating character, John Goodman was certainly at his creepy best for this!

I’m glad I watched it.

1/2

“10 Cloverfield Lane” Follow this link for more information. 31 Days of Horror 2016: Movie #3 A woman, Michelle, is in a car accident and wakes up chained to a wall and locked in a room, once unlocked she discovers that her captor, Howard, is also the one who saved her after her car accident.
