{"id":1306,"date":"2014-06-30T19:37:00","date_gmt":"2014-07-01T00:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intheaudience.net\/?p=1306"},"modified":"2014-06-30T19:37:00","modified_gmt":"2014-07-01T00:37:00","slug":"i-frankenstein-2014-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/intheaudience.net\/?p=1306","title":{"rendered":"I, Frankenstein (2014) &#8211; Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>&#8220;I, Frankenstein&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Follow <a title=\"IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1418377\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">this link<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>A continuation of the Frankenstein story, immediately following, then jumping ahead 200 years after\u00a0the events of Mary Shelley&#8217;s classic novel. \u00a0It is a tale of good versus evil. \u00a0Our anti-hero, Adam, Frankenstein&#8217;s Monster, unwillingly caught in the middle of a centuries long war between Gargoyles and Demons.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sadly, this is a case where a very talented cast can only carry the film so far on a weak script. \u00a0Bill Nighy&#8217;s incomparable presence as Neberius, the Demon Prince, is intense, if a bit type cast. \u00a0 Aaron Eckhart, in the title role as Adam, Frankenstein&#8217;s Monster, gives us a prettier more human version of the monster. \u00a0Yvonne Strahovski,as Terra, the scientist who is unknowingly working for Neberius, trying to find the key to reanimating dead flesh and extend life. \u00a0And Miranda Otto, as Leonore, the Gargoyle Queen, defender of humanity, struggling to resolve where Adam fits in, his protector and his persecutor.<\/p>\n<p>The film is heavily CGI, intentionally, as it is based on a 2009 graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. \u00a0It is a fascinating\u00a0concept, with well thought out motivations, yet the characters are too underdeveloped for such a grandiose plot. \u00a0This films success is also its major weakness. \u00a0It is a very pretty film, but it relies too heavily on imagery rather than a balance of \u00a0visual and storytelling.<\/p>\n<p>The movie kept my attention throughout, \u00a0I engaged with the characters to some extent and once I accepted the film for what it was, I enjoyed a simple action\/sci fi\/fantasy. \u00a0I gave this 2 1\/2 cups of cocoa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intheaudience.net\/\/clipart\/cocoa.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"50\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intheaudience.net\/\/clipart\/cocoa.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"50\" \/>1\/2<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:20px; padding-top:10px;\" class=\"hupso-share-buttons\"><!-- Hupso Share Buttons - https:\/\/www.hupso.com\/share\/ --><a class=\"hupso_toolbar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hupso.com\/share\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.hupso.com\/share\/buttons\/share-medium.png\" style=\"border:0px; padding-top: 5px; float:left;\" alt=\"Share Button\"\/><\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\">var hupso_services_t=new Array(\"Twitter\",\"Facebook\",\"Google Plus\",\"StumbleUpon\",\"Email\");var hupso_background_t=\"#EAF4FF\";var hupso_border_t=\"#66CCFF\";var hupso_toolbar_size_t=\"medium\";var hupso_image_folder_url = \"\";var hupso_twitter_via=\"mojodawn\";var hupso_url_t=\"\";var hupso_title_t=\"I%2C%20Frankenstein%20%282014%29%20-%20Film\";<\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/static.hupso.com\/share\/js\/share_toolbar.js\"><\/script><!-- Hupso Share Buttons --><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;I, Frankenstein&#8221; Follow this link for more information.
