{"id":1024,"date":"2014-03-16T08:27:13","date_gmt":"2014-03-16T13:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intheaudience.net\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2014-03-16T08:27:13","modified_gmt":"2014-03-16T13:27:13","slug":"sharktopus-2010-tv-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/intheaudience.net\/?p=1024","title":{"rendered":"Sharktopus (2010) &#8211; TV Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>&#8220;Sharktopus&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information follow <a title=\"IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1619880\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A genetically engineered half shark &#8211; half octopus (Sharktopus aka S-11),\u00a0 intended as the U.S. Military&#8217;s next super weapon, escapes when its (literally strapped around its head) leash is damaged and heads to the shores of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.\u00a0 The father\/daughter team of biologists who run Blue Water and created S-11 hire ex-military, Andy Flynn to hunt down and capture it.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Roger Coreman presents this mega cheesy, made for <a title=\"SyFy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sy-Fy <\/a>flick.\u00a0 Though it was intended as a comedy (and there are more than a few places that were obviously comedic, most notably the cameo of Roger Coreman himself) most of the comedy seems to come from the over-the-top, cartoonish CGI and effects (follow the link to hear the <a title=\"Wilhelm Scream\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wilhelmscream.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wilhelm Scream)<\/a> and the Sharktopus itself.<\/p>\n<p>The actors appeared to be doing their damnedest to play their roles as dead-pan or serious as possible.\u00a0\u00a0 Only Eric Roberts, as Nathan Sands, leader of Blue Water, creator of Sharktopus; Hector Jimenez, as Bones the quippy camera operator; and Ralph Garman as Captain Jack, the snarky, jaded pirate radio DJ; seemed to have their tongue firmly in cheek during their performances.<\/p>\n<p>Of note is the surprisingly good soundtrack, featuring The Cheetah Whores, and beautiful filming locations.<\/p>\n<p>I gave this 2 1\/2 mixers because this flick delivers exactly what it advertises.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll likely revisit this movie at some point (when I have a pitcher full of mojito or margarita as company), but it wasn&#8217;t one of Coreman&#8217;s better flicks.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intheaudience.net\/\/clipart\/mixer.JPG\" width=\"41\" height=\"75\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intheaudience.net\/\/clipart\/mixer.JPG\" width=\"41\" height=\"75\" \/>1\/2<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:20px; padding-top:10px;\" class=\"hupso-share-buttons\"><!-- Hupso Share Buttons - https:\/\/www.hupso.com\/share\/ --><a class=\"hupso_toolbar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hupso.com\/share\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.hupso.com\/share\/buttons\/share-medium.png\" style=\"border:0px; padding-top: 5px; float:left;\" alt=\"Share Button\"\/><\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\">var hupso_services_t=new Array(\"Twitter\",\"Facebook\",\"Google Plus\",\"StumbleUpon\",\"Email\");var hupso_background_t=\"#EAF4FF\";var hupso_border_t=\"#66CCFF\";var hupso_toolbar_size_t=\"medium\";var hupso_image_folder_url = \"\";var hupso_twitter_via=\"mojodawn\";var hupso_url_t=\"\";var hupso_title_t=\"Sharktopus%20%282010%29%20-%20TV%20Movie\";<\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/static.hupso.com\/share\/js\/share_toolbar.js\"><\/script><!-- Hupso Share Buttons --><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Sharktopus&#8221; For more information follow this link.
