Tom is a devoted family man, but lately he is unhappy at work, drifting away from his wife and his friend, and cannot seem to figure out what’s wrong.  He thinks that maybe moving away might help, so he takes a brief trip upstate.  He and his best friend, Dan, share a love horror movies and in an attempt to reconnect, they watch a shocking DVD.  Now, Tom finds himself thinking about it at at odd times, making him face something dark inside himself, and becoming obsessed with it until it threatens every aspect of his life.

Archeologist, Angus Flint, discovers the skull of  a giant serpent, possibly the D’Ampton Worm of local folk legend, while excavating the ruins of a convent, now a Bed & Breakfast run by the Trent sisters.  The eccentric and mysterious  Lady Sylvia Marsh returns to her manor, Temple House, after an extended absence.   Soon, people start acting strangely and disappearing.  As Angus and James D’Ampton decide to investigate these strange occurrences, they discover that the Worm was once worshiped as a god by a cult.
